The Acne and Pimple Scars Problem

Acne is a skin problem that afflicts a lot of people. Most prone are those who are just entering puberty but it can affect even people well into adulthood. Oily skin seems to be the most likely risk factor since excessive oil on the skin is known to be a notorious dirt magnet. Bacteria will thrive inside the pores especially if the pores start getting blocked by the mixture of dirt and oil. The main consequence of this are acne and pimple scars that may never heal and can become a cosmetic problem among teenagers and adults.

Hence, acne scarring treatment must not come after the fact or after the scars have formed. Pimple scars must be dealt with even before they appear. And this calls for sound acne management strategy.

Acne can be managed by dealing with the root causes and there are a number of skin care products that can does this exactly.

The first step is to ensure that you control the excessive oil production of your sebaceous glands. This means you need to wash your face regularly using a facial wash that only removes the excess oil and does not strip it totally from your skin. Doing so will create new problems as your skin will dry out if you use cleansers that are too strong. Remember, you only need to get rid of the excess oil.

You will also need to watch out for your diet. Stay away from junk and oily food as this is known to cause the sebaceous glands to release more oil that can cause blockage in your pores and hair follicles. Eat lots of vegetables as they are skin food that contains a lot of nutrients like vitamin E and other antioxidants that ensure your skin is in optimal shape to fight any infection.

As for dealing with old scars caused by acne and pimples, there are acne scar cream products that you can use to improve the appearance of scar tissues and make it less noticeable. But the scars will not be removed 100%.

Promising potential is being seen in new scientific findings into the workings of the skin. Transforming growth factors (TGF) provides a new realm for exploration as it is said to play a major role in the formation of scars and the manipulation of the TGF is one target that scar cream manufacturers may want to look into.

There are other methods that you may consider such as silicon sheeting, revision surgery, needling and steroids. These will be discussed more in future articles.
